This Week's Parent Prompts
April 22, 2026 - Topic: Gentleness

This week, we discussed the concept of "gentleness" and how God calls us to be gentle with others. God treats us with gentleness and sees people as valuable so we need to treat others with gentle kindess too!

God calls us to be gentle for two reasons.

  1. Humans are fragile (easily hurt or damaged by words and actions).
  2. Humans are valuable (made in God's image and cared for by God).

We looked at several verses highlighting the importance of gentleness in our relationships with others:

Proverbs 15:1

"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

2 Timothy 2:24-25

"And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth."

Questions to ask your student this week:

  • Why does God ask us to be gentle? Is gentleness the same as weakness?
  • What would it look like for you to practice being more gentle with others at home or school?
  • How can you be gentle with your words, attitude, or actions?
  • How can I be more gentle with you? How can you be more gentle with me?
